Jane Pigg Rutledge Family
Dean and I have been married 28 years. We currently live in Arlington,
TX as DFW makes a good place for Dean to fly from. He travels most
of the time for business. We’ve been here 9 years and lived in a variety
of places for several years before that. I am an accountant and have
work as the “office” for a small general contractor. Laid back job, good
boss, little stress…what more could I ask for?
We have a daughter, Sara, who is 24. She completed her degree in
Education of the Deaf from Hattiesburg, MS in 2004, got married and
has a daughter. She and her husband Scott and daughter Ashley live in
Memphis. Much too far for me because we don’t get to see Ashley as
much as we’d like. Sara has been teaching for Memphis schools and
her husband works in residential construction. We are very proud of
both of them.
Our son, Zachary, was 20. Zachary was attending school at Embry-
Riddle Aeronautical University studying Aerospace Engineering on an
ROTC scholarship. Tragically, he was killed in a car wreck on March
10, 2006. There are no words to share except love your kids.
Fortunately, we had a great relationship with him. We are finding out
just how much influence he had on his friends and community. It has
been amazing. Zachary was well-liked by classmates, friends,
teachers…the list goes on. He was seen as a mentor to some
students. His plan was to serve in the Air Force and then work for
NASA. He seriously wanted to fly for NASA. Such a loss.
