Hey, you guys!
Wow, can it really be that 30 years have gone by???
Seems just like yesterday......... Life is good!
Larry and I will celebrate our 30th anniversary next month.
We joke that we've only stayed together this long just to
prove to our parents that we could do it. ha We moved
to south Oklahoma City, in February, 1981, when Larry
got out of the Air Force. He is now Flightline
Superintendent of AWACS at Tinker AFB and will retire in
four years, after 35 years with the Air Force. After working
various jobs, I went back to school and received degrees
from UCO in '92 and '93, planning on a career in marriage
and family counseling. Yeah........ that never happened.
(Bad advisement. Wrong degrees. Don't ask or I may
have to bore you with the horrid details. :) I did work as a
substance abuse counselor for a while until my daughters
started getting married and giving us grandbabies! Now
my title is "Grandma" and I LOVE it!
We have three daughters, Melissa, 29; Christy, 27, is
married to Eric; and Stephanie, 22, is married to Jason.
Our five granddaughters are such a joy and keep us busy.
Bailey is six; Emma and Lydia, born 12 days apart, are
four; Abby is two, and Maura is nine months. We are
expecting another grandchild, gender unknown, later this
year. Larry and I have been raising Lydia since she was
born and she is such a sweet blessing. All of our kids live
close and we love just hanging out together.
I am still a music nerd. We have been at Southern Hills
Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, for 25 years. I sing
soprano in the adult choir; play French Horn in the
orchestra; sing alto with "Psalm of Praise," a mixed
quartet, since its beginning 21 years ago; played in the
adult handbell choir for 19 years; directed children's choirs
for 100 years (seems like), most recently with the Youth
Choir -- my favorite (I tried introducing "My Eternal King"
but they rebelled on me); and am the substitute adult choir
and orchestra director.
My sisters, Jan ('78, married to Rick Leath, '77) and Jamie
('79), their families and our parents all live in Oklahoma
City and Edmond. Our brother, Don, FINALLY got married
in September, 2004, at the age of 41. He and his wife had
twins, a boy and a girl, last December. They live in
Kansas City, Missouri.
