Wow, it has been really exciting to see
the pictures and read the history of
some of the class of ’76.  It seems like
forever to me.

I certainly have been through a lot
since graduating.  Some good things
and some not so good, however, such
is life.  Right?  I am currently
divorced, but very happy.  It just took
me until I was in my 40’s to realize
that I was not meant to be married.  I
really envy all of you who have been
married so long!  That is so great to
see so many of you high school
sweethearts and others that have
found happiness.

I am a registered nurse and have a
master’s in nursing from OU.  I am
currently working at Griffin Memorial
Hospital in Norman. Yes it is the
psychiatric hospital (formerly Central
State Hospital).  I love the patients and
the staff.  I am a nurse coordinator
and manage the units.  I have 23 ½
years with the state of Oklahoma.  I
worked for the private sector for 5
years.  Nursing has been very good to
me and I am blessed to have had the
experiences I have had.

My kids are Marc, who is now 31.  He
is working for the State insurance
department as a public information
officer.  He attended OU, has nine
years in the Army National Guard and
became an officer last year. He has
delved in many political endeavors.
He is following in my father’s
footsteps, certainly not mine, as I have
absolutely no political interest, but he
loves it.  My daughter, Amber, is 23.
She is a dental assistant for a dentist
here in Norman.  She has started
college a few times, but has not
decided to take it seriously yet.
Fortunately she has been very
responsible in holding a job though.
Neither one has married yet, which is
ok with me.  I want them to be sure
and get it right the first time, unlike
me!  HA!  They are both great kids and
I have been so fortunate.  I don’t know
how they turned out so good, but
gosh am I thankful for that. I could not
have asked for any better kids.

I have been living in Norman for
almost 22 years now.  I love living
here because it is close to anything
you need.  My most unfortunate event
is that I have multiple sclerosis, an
autoimmune disease that affects the
nerves of the central nervous system
causing eventual disability. I have
been diagnosed with this disease for
nearly 13 years.  I have been very
lucky; though, more recently I must
use a cane for balance.  I am very
determined to not let this disease take
me over.  I am slow, but I am still
going!  Halleluiah!

I have three great nephews and two
great nieces.  They are like my
grandchildren.  It is nice because I get
to play with them and then leave!  HA!
My niece and nephew both live in
Altus as well as my sister.  I do visit
occasionally.  I lost my mom in
January 2005 so it is not the same
coming home.

I am quite happy and I enjoy my work,
church, and family.  As I said
previously I have two wonderful
children and my babies are my cats
(since I have no grandchildren).

I hope to come this summer.  It is so
good to read about the lives of the ’76
graduates.
