It is hard to believe that its been 30 years since we graduated from high school. I still think I'm 30. After good old AHS, I went to WOSC for a year and then transferred to OSU with Kathy Alexander for a roomate. We had a great time there, even pledged the same sorority. After graduating from college I headed to Dallas to work for a food company. I had kept in touch with Rick Hans, who I dated in high school (thanks to Cathy Pettit - where is she now?) We reconnected and got married in 1981. We celebrated our 25th anniversary in May and just returned from a Hawaiian cruise to celebrate those 25 years. We have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl - Jeremy, 21, a senior at OU; Josh, 19, a sophomore at Texas A&M; Jake, 17 a junior in high school; and Kelley (imagine the name!) 14, an 8th grader. I was a stay at home for 17 years before I went back into the workforce this last year. I no longer had kids in elementary school so decided I should work at one. I'm the attendance registrar at an elementary school. Rick has been buying toys for 24 years now (buying for Tuesday Morning for the last 7 years). He didn't have to grow up. We have lived in Dallas, Houston, Omaha, back to Houston (actually Katy, TX) and now back to the Dallas area, living in Allen, TX. Rick and I have kept busy chasing our kids around and being involved in their activities. We're very involved in our church and enjoyed camping before everyone went off to college and no one had time anymore. My favorite thing is getting to travel with Rick (he travels the world buying toys). We still have family in Altus, so we've visited many times each year. My mom passed away in 1997 and my dad passed away last September. My brother moved back to Altus several years ago and Rick's family is still there. It is amazing how many people we've met through the years that have ties to Altus in some way. I was planning to be at the reunion but it doesn't look like I'll be able to make it due to schedule conflicts with my kids. Hope you all have a wonderful time and maybe we'll make it for the 35th. |
