Glenn Carter, 50 of Tipton, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at his home in Tipton. Glenn was born in Concord, North Carolina on November 24, 1966. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and soon after graduating high school he joined the United States Air Force where served his country for 25 years and retired with an honorable discharge. Among his numerous awards and decorations, he received the Meritorious Service Medal while serving as a C141 and C17 Loadmaster. In March of 1999 Glenn married Kimberly Apo in Charleston, South Carolina and they enjoyed over 17 years of marriage together. They lived in many places throughout his military career and finally landed at Altus Air Force Base for the second time and where they made their home in Tipton. Glenn was a member of the Professional Loadmaster’s Association and the 58th Airlift Squadron and he always enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and working his hobby farm in Tipton, and spending time with his family and friends.
Glenn is preceded in death by his grandparents and is survived by his wife Kimberly Carter of the home; his mother, Kay Roseman Hamilton and husband Richard of North Carolina; two sons, Asheton Biggerstaff and wife Caitlyn of North Carolina; and Caulder Alford and wife Savanah of Tipton; two daughters, Lauren Duckett of Tipton; and Molly Carter of the home; one brother, Christopher Carter of North Carolina; one sister, Jaimie Harvell of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Chloe and Bentley Biggerstaff both of North Carolina; two nieces, Emily Osbourne and Stella Carter and a nephew Gavin Carter all of North Carolina; as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
Celebration of Life services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 10, 2017 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus with Pastor Paul Beam officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Blue Knights Honors Detail, Altus Air Force Base.
